Mighty Oaks from Tiny Acorns Grow

A Montessori school for children ages 4 months to 6 years

Cultural

Cultural Activities are a specific extension of the language curriculum where children begin to acquire a sense of historical fact, classification of physical geography and an appreciation of cultural differences.

Practical Life

Practical Life is the study of self-help skills and focuses on the four major areas, Care of Self, Care of Environment, Grace and Courtesy, and Movement.

Sensorial

Sensorial uses a multi-sensory approach to education. Children are encouraged to learn by processing information gathered through the senses.

Math

Math continues the cognitive math development that began in the Practical Life Skills and Sensorial curriculum, taking an acute focus and more abstract thinking process with concrete materials.

Why Mighty Oaks Montessori School?

We allow each child to move and learn at their own pace. We know that learning is not linear, and that children are not ready to learn specific skills according to an adult-prepared timeline, or in perfect harmony with their peers. Kids who need more support with certain skills get that support, and those who are ready to move ahead are able to find the challenges they crave.

Individualized learning

Lessons are designed and given to each child when they are most ready to learn.

Whole child education

Social, emotional, and physical development is emphasized along with academic skills.

Empowered by choice

Freedom to move and choose activities fosters independence and self-confidence.

Supported by research

Current neurology and human development research consistently backs Montessori.

Our Programs

We offer programs for children 4 months through 6 years old

Infant

4–14 months
Our classrooms are designed entirely around the needs of your child. A low rail anchored to the wall provides support as your child pulls himself up from the floor. A soft mat cushions falls. Custom floor beds allow your child to choose to sleep when tired. Infant size shelves display beautiful materials designed to stimulate your child’s senses. Teachers speak in gentle tones and the decor is understated and homelike. Your child will feel right at home in an environment created just for him or her.

Toddler

15–32 months
Your child has a natural drive to be independent which we encourage by creating an environment where everything is just the right size for her to do things on her own. Child sized tools that fit her tiny hands allow her to prepare a snack and serve it to friends. A miniature broom empowers her to clean up on her own. She is taught the skills of self-care and toilet training. Your child learns a set of concrete life skills and self-confidence – but, more importantly, develops the belief that she can choose to make a genuine impact on her world.

Primary

33 months–6 years
The Primary program is truly a gift to your child. Designed for children between the ages of 3 to 6 years, it is an opportunity to nurture his individual development within the context of a group setting. The result? Self-confidence, joy and a lifelong love-for-learning.

Parent Testimonials

“This school is wonderful. The teachers are amazing, and they absolutely love the kids. My kids love going to school and even ask to go on the weekend. We couldn’t be happier and will recommend Mighty Oaks to everyone!”

Hillary Fazio

“Thank you SO much for allowing me to take a tour this afternoon! I knew within the first 5 minutes this is the place I want to send my daughter! I have known about your philosophy, however seeing how engaging you were with the children, and how you talked about them in such a warm manner, sealed the deal. If the other “teachers” are half as enthusiastic and caring as you I know my daughter will be in GREAT hands!”
